Hashim Amla has signed off his international cricketing career as one of the greatest batsmen to play for South Africa. The elegant right-handed batsman’s glorious stint with the national side spanned 15 years, and saw him tumble numerous records along the way.
As soon as Amla announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket, Twitter was flooded with tributes pouring in from all corners of the sporting fraternity. All the players who played alongside Amla and those who competed against him, have praised the 36-year-old for his unparalleled brilliance.
Amla finishes his career representing the Proteas side in 349 international games accumulating 55 centuries and 88 fifties. He remains the quickest batsman to 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 runs in ODI cricket.
