While T20 cricket is considered as a batsman’s game, but the strong bowlers have always portrayed their class even on batting friendly pitches. However, this time, it was the turn of an all-rounder who shined brightly in the ongoing season of Vitality Blast to bag the best ever bowling figures in the history of T20 cricket.
In a North group game between Leicestershire and Birmingham Bears, Leicestershire’s skipper Colin Ackerman delivered an iconic bowling performance which saw him claiming 7 wickets for 18 runs in his quota of 4 overs. After his team’s strong batting performance of 189 runs, Leicestershire needed a decent bowling support and captain stood tall against all the adversity.
With this bowling effort, the 28-year old successfully smashed the previous record of Somerset’s Arul Suppiah who demolished Glamorgan in 2011 by hunting 6 scalps for 5 runs. Ackerman’s 7 wickets meant that his unit was able to record a thumping victory to claim their second win of the tournament. The South Africa born was elated to contribute valiantly towards his team’s cause as he vowed to repeat similar performances in the forthcoming fixtures.
