Former New Zealand coach, Mike Hesson has become a strong candidate to replace Mickey Arthur as Pakistan’s head coach. Along with Pakistan, Asian heavyweights India and Bangladesh are also scouting Hesson.
Hesson is currently out of work after leaving the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab. Hesson had a successful six-year run from July 2012 to June 2018 as the coach for New Zealand, where the Kiwis reached the 2015 World Cup final, played the semi-final of World T20 2016, defeated England in a home series in 2018 and got the third rank in ICC Test ranking.
He stepped down in June last year citing family reasons, as Gary Stead took the coaching reins. Hesson has decent coaching credentials to his name but it remains to be seen that which team will be successful in roping him in.
