The stadiums used to erupt with loudness and buzz whenever Shahid Khan Afridi walked to the middle. It was that sort of a day on 21st June 2009 when Shahid Afridi came out to bat in the final of ICC T20 World Cup 2009 against Sri Lanka at Lord's.
Pakistan was 48-1 and then Afridi’s magic happened which got the fans dancing in the aisles. Shahid Khan Afridi played a knock of his life and carried Pakistan to victory with his magnificent half-century.
Muttiah Muralitharan, Lasith Malinga, and every other Sri Lankan bowler had no answers to Afridi’s belligerence. Afridi finished off things for Pakistan with David Llyod’s magical words “Big man, Big game; it is a leg-bye who cares”.
This was one of the most special moment in the history of Pakistan when their most beloved player won them the ICC title. Pakistan lifted their maiden T20 World Cup trophy at Lords and the people elated with joy back at home.
