Test cricket is all about patience and temperament and Steve Smith is an ideal example of these traits. Leading the format with his remarkable form, Smith has been impregnable against England in the Ashes so far. With scores of 144, 142, and 92 in the 3 innings he played, Smith averages almost 126.
Unfortunately, he could not bat in the 2nd Innings of the 2nd Test match at Lord’s as he was ruled out due to concussion after being hit on the side of the head by Jofra Archer with a brutal bouncer.
Smith now averages 62.96 in the Test format which makes him hold the top position among the current best batsmen in the format. His one-year ban could not stop him from scoring runs for Australia.
Australia will be hoping for his return for the 3rd Ashes Test as they still lead the series 1-0. The 3rd Ashes Test will commence from 22nd August 2019 at Emerald Headingly.
