Jofra Archer had a fantastic debut in Test cricket as the adroit pacer claimed 5 wickets to instill a sense of fear in Australia with his aggressive pace bowling. While Archer’s prowess gave England attack a new cutting edge, rain came to spoil the fun and disturbed England’s plan to achieve an unlikely series-levelling win at Lord’s.
However, a sparkling bowling performance was enough to fetch heavy admiration from skipper Joe Root who feels that Jofra ‘lived up to the hype’ in a dramatic Test game. Sharing his views on the recently concluded game, the top-order batsman admitted that Jofra has made a huge impact, particularly in the absence of the veteran paceman James Anderson.
Joe Root was extremely pleased to see Barbados born delivering strongly on his Test debut and believes that he has given Australia something to think about for the forthcoming games. Moreover, the Yorkshire born expects Jofra to continue his good work in future. It would be interesting to see how Jofra fares in the remaining matches of the Ashes series.
