Following an average performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided not to renew the contracts of their coaching panel. One of the major removals included the name of former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Mahmood who served as the bowling coach of the boys in green.
The Rawalpindi born was found displeased with PCB’s move as he feels that the board didn’t allow him to explain himself. In addition to that, Azhar revealed that he never had much say in the selection matters – an element which frustrated him a lot. Nevertheless, he extended his best wishes for Pakistan team for its future assignments.
Reflecting on the recent developments of the governing body of Pakistan cricket, the 44-year old added, “PCB and its Cricket committee just invited Mickey Arthur from the entire coaching staff, but did not give others a chance to clarify and answer about my own department. As a bowling coach, I always raised voice about me having a say in the selection matters, but it never happened.”
