Pakistan’s captaincy debate isn’t a new phenomenon of the cricketing world. However, the topic has recently been highlighted after green team’s exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament without even playing the semi-finals of the competition.
In this regard, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is often criticized for not having groomed captaincy materials. Recent man to join this club in none other than former opening batsman Aamer Sohail who also supported the continuity of Sarfaraz Ahmed’s leadership.
Sharing his views, the 52-year old lampooned the governing body of Pakistan cricket as he feels that they failed to groom a new captain. Furthermore, the Lahore born believes that authorities need to identify the leadership material and groom him accordingly to take Pakistan cricket forward in a positive manner.
“The captaincy debate is just a sad case of a knee-jerk reaction. The fact is that PCB haven’t groomed a successor to him and so to expect Sarfaraz to be replaced for the sake of change is absolute madness,” Sohail added while sharing his two cents on Pakistan’s leadership framework.
