There is currently a vacuum in Pakistan's coaching setup following the decision of the cricket board to refuse awarding Mickey Arthur an extension in his contract. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had recently advertised for the top jobs in the coaching staff managing to attract a high-profile roster of applicants.
Amidst the robust assessment of the candidates, former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq's name was also being tied in as the next coach of Pakistan. Misbah, who is a member of the PCB Cricket Committee and commandant of the ongoing conditioning camp, spoke against the rumours and stated he has not even applied for the job.
“I have not applied for the post of head coach. My complete attention is towards the camp with special attention towards the centrally contracted players,” Misbah told reporters in Lahore.
