Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have rejected Pakistan’s invitation to play two Test matches in Karachi and Lahore despite a security delegation from the island nation recently visiting the country. Sri Lanka are instead willing to participate in three limited-overs fixtures at a later date in Pakistan.
Sri Lankan team celebrates
“We are not in a position to send the team to Pakistan to play the two Tests, but we will be in Pakistan for about eight days to play the ODIs or the T20 matches,” Sri Lanka Sports Minister Harin Fernando told reporters in the country’s capital.
Sri Lanka previously toured Pakistan for a single T20I in 2017 making it the first instance in 8 years since their team bus was attacked by terrorists in Lahore in 2009. Pakistan has since then been deprived of Test cricket on its shores and it seems the wait will prolong further.
