Former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis has reportedly applied for the bowling coach job for the Pakistan cricket team. This development comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided against renewing contracts of the existing coaching staff following a disappointing World Cup performance where the side failed to reach the semi-finals.
Waqar has previously served as the head coach of the national side in two separate stints, seeing varying degrees of success. He resigned from his post following Pakistan’s World T20 debacle in 2016 and proceeded to write a scathing letter specifying the issues he had with certain players and the overall management of the team.
The media reports suggest that the fast bowling veteran has submitted his request for the job of bowling coach. Azhar Mahmood was the last bowling coach of Pakistan, who worked alongside Mickey Arthur and Grant Flower in Pakistan’s coaching staff for almost two years.
