Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq is expected to be appointed as the head coach of the national side after the previous coaching staff was not given extension due to the side’s inconsistent performances in the last couple of years.
It is also being said that Misbah might be given the additional responsibility of Chief Selector since he is the perfect candidate for the job, having played domestic cricket last year. The veteran is currently overseeing the 17-day training camp in Lahore which aims to polish the skills of players before the start of next season in September.
Misbah has said that he would not only focus on the physical aspect of training during the camp, but he would also try to inculcate healthy eating and training habits among players so that they do not become prone to injuries due to their health.
“My aim is to get the players to inculcate habits on a routine basis, as part of their lifestyle, to minimize chances of fitness issues in the future. During this camp, we will focus not only on physical training, but also sleeping habits, dietary habits, calorie intake, body-weight level, and maintaining fat level. I will try to focus on those aspects and work towards an ideal level of fitness for a sportsperson,” said Misbah.
