Being handed over the reins of Sri Lankan team in a tough time, opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne produced some impressive displays. Particularly, in red-ball cricket, the dexterous cricketer helped his team pull off memorable victories against South Africa and New Zealand. Moreover, the bunch looks contented under him.
Recently, Karunaratne has received words of praise from the wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella who believes that the southpaw is a different leader as compared to the rest of the players. Explaining his point, the Kandy born cricketer said that Karunaratne provides freedom to all the players which aids in augmenting their confidence.
Dickwella added that his skipper is always focused on learning from mistakes and urges all the teammates to do the same as 26-year old expects Sri Lanka to consistently produce good results under Karunaratne in their future assignments. Talking of consistency, it would be interesting to see Sri Lanka’s performance in the ongoing second Test against New Zealand as Islanders have a great chance to claim victory in the two-game series.
