Pakistan’s Test specialist Mohammad Abbas is all set to join the pre-season conditioning camp currently underway at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. Abbas, one of the 14 centrally contracted players part of the training program, is expected to join his teammates soon after parting ways with his county side.
Abbas has been busy representing Leicestershire in the County Championship in England, where he has found much success on the pitches conducive to swing bowling. He finishes his stint this season with Leicestershire obtaining 29 wickets at an average of 25.75 in the 9 games he played.
The 29-year-old averages an astounding 18.86 in his short Test career thus far and has climbed to lead Pakistan’s pace attack in the longest format. Although he was tried in limited-overs cricket for a brief while, this experiment did not last long after he failed to make an impact with the white ball.
