3 reasons why the Test series not being played in Pakistan is a setback

Sri Lanka Cricket has refused to play the Test series in Pakistan despite having the security clearances from their inspecting team. But they have announced that they will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is instead of the Test series in Pakistan.

Even though this is a great news for the cricket fans, yet Pakistan cricket board has reservations on this decision from the Cricket Sri Lanka. This Test series not being played in Pakistan might be a setback, here are the reasons why:

Has the cricket world lost their trust on Pakistan?

Despite the security clearance, Sri Lankan players did not show their consent to play Test series in Pakistan. Pakistan has not hosted a Test series since 2009. These are not good signs for Pakistan that teams are not ready to visit Pakistan for a longer period even after the circumstances have ameliorated significantly. This implies that the cricket world still has speculations over Pakistan and don’t have complete trust in Pakistan’s security assurances.

Pakistan steps back in the ICC Test Championship

Pakistan would have a head start to the ICC Test Championship if the series had been played at home. Although Pakistan has played a lot of cricket in U.A.E but still the series in Lahore and Karachi would have more charm and plus points than in Dubai or Sharjah.

Pakistan deprived again of the good audience

Test series' in UAE has been very poor at the pulling crowd in the stadiums. The Test series at home would certainly have grabbed more crowd attention. The national players are now deprived of that magical moment once again.
