The World Champion, England is failing miserably to hold its ground in the ongoing Ashes series. England batting has consistently crumbled against the top-quality bowling from Australia.
But the major problem for England is their opening slots. The current openers Jason Roy and Rory Burns have not been impressive at all. Since the opening pair of Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss separated, England has not been able to find a consistent opening pair in Test matches.
England has tried with Michael Carberry, Nick Compton, Haseeb Hameed, Mark Stoneman, and few others previously but none of them has been able to establish their feet in the format.
The batting-dominant team in the limited overs, has been struggling in the longer format of the game in the recent past. On the other hand, Joe Root’s poor form is another concern for England team. England has to deal with their opening pair problems, if they want to do well in the ICC Test Championship.
