Former West Indies player, Ian Bishop raised his reservations on T20 cricket as he feels that the format is badly affecting the techniques of the modern-day batsmen. He called the format “rubbish” during the commentary in the ongoing Test series between India and West Indies.
On the other hand, England’s former batsman, Kevin Pietersen contradicted strongly with Ian Bishop and defended the shorter format of the game. He said that, “the standard of the cricket as a whole has been poor as the good batters can change the way they play as per the form of cricket they are playing”.
The opinions have varied a lot on this argument in the past decade, some feels that T20 cricket is only the source of entertainment while others think that this format allows a batsman to settle well in the modern-day cricket.
