Australian top order batsman Usman Khawaja is not having a great time in England as he has not been able to provide a solid platform to the batting lineup up, highlighting his struggles to score big after getting good starts with the bat.
Australian assistant coach Ricky Ponting has backed Khawaja to make a comeback in the series as he said that the left-hander is a class player and he would hate to see him get dropped in the next match.
“Thankfully I'm not a selector, I wouldn't want to be making that call. Reading some of the stuff today I know there's a bit of stuff about Usman Khawaja missing out, but he is a class player. I'd be loath to leave him out, but then you've got Matthew Wade who has made a hundred in the first Test and Travis Head who averages nearly 50 in Test cricket,” he said.
