Former Pakistan batsman Faisal Iqbal declared on Twitter that he has applied for the posts of Pakistan’s batting coach positions for the junior and senior teams. Faisal, who represented the national side in 26 Test matches and 18 ODIs, is a certified coach and has been involved in the coaching capacity with Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Karachi Kings.
He is the nephew of the cricketing legend Javed Miandad and captained Pakistan at the U-15 and U-19 level. Faisal’s application comes in the aftermath of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) refusal to award an extension to previous batting coach Grant Flower.
The 37-year-old is the only renowned candidate to have submitted the application for this particular post while fast bowling great Waqar Younis recently applied for the head coach and bowling coach role.
