Bangladesh’s star Test spinner Taijul Islam has found himself in a great position to become the fastest to achieve the landmark of 100 Test wickets for his country. Currently, the left-arm bowler possesses 99 wickets in 24 Tests, needing only a wicket against Afghanistan to better the record of veteran Shakib Al Hasan who did it in 28 Tests.
The 27-year old cricketer is also the third-highest wicket taker for Bangladesh only behind Shakib Al Hasan (205 wickets) and Mohammad Rafique (100 wickets). However, Taijul Islam has no particular focus on the approaching achievement as he added that his plans circulate around getting as many wickets as he can to augment chances of his unit winning that contest.
Moreover, the Natore born player is relishing the chance to be a part of ICC World Test Championship in which Bangladesh’s journey would begin against India. Taijul Islam is looking to perform strongly in the Afghanistan Test and utilize his good form to take down a stern team like India.
