In an era of high quality cricket where strict dietary regimes are increasingly prioritized, Ben Stokes bucked the trend on the night before his memorable 135 not out to lead England to a thrilling one-wicket win over Australia in the Headingley Test.
Following his emphatic knock which snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, Stokes revealed a calories-rich meal he took ahead of the day of the triumph. Stokes claimed that his family was visiting him due to which he ate fried chicken and two chocolate bars to fill appetite.
“My wife and kids came down and they got there at around 10 o’clock. My wife walked into me eating pasta in my boxer shorts! I think had a knock-off Nandos and two bars of Yorkie biscuit and raisin. And a couple of coffees in the morning,” Stokes said.
