Misbah-ul-Haq has announced his intentions to apply for the vacant head coach position for Pakistan as he has stepped down from the PCB Cricket Committee. After days of speculations over Misbah being the top contender for the job, Misbah is now in the competition for the successor of previous coach Mickey Arthur.
The development came forth when Misbah met PCB Director International Cricket Zakir Khan on Monday and handed in his resignation from the committee to apply for the head coach’s role. Pakistan’s most successful Test captain, Misbah is currently serving as the camp commandant of the pre-season conditioning program in the National Cricket Academy.
“I am applying for the head coach’s role fully aware that the competition will be tough as I envisage there will be a few more very competent and highly qualified people applying for one of the most challenging jobs in the game,” Misbah said.
