Ben Stokes' emphatic unbeaten 135 and four wickets in England’s victory over Australia in the third Ashes Test at Headingley has allowed him to make impressive gains in the updated ICC Test rankings. Stokes’ batting heroics helped his side clinch a remarkable one-wicket win just when the hosts seemed completely blown away from the contest.
Stokes’ memorable performance in the miraculous triumph has vaulted him up to No. 13 in the rankings for batsmen from the previous position of No. 26. He has also moved up the rankings to occupy the No. 2 slot for all-rounders.
Both these placings are the career-high numbers for Stokes, who recently was at the center of England’s maiden World Cup victory in the final against New Zealand. Stokes also struck a century at Lord’s in the previous game which ended in a draw between the two Ashes rivals.
