The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently accepting applications for management positions with the national team as numerous former players and coaches have shown interest in taking up the jobs.
According to media reports, former Test cricketers Mohammad Wasim and Faisal Iqbal have emerged as the top contenders for the batting coach position as both of them have formally applied for the role.
Wasim has served as the batting coach of Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) while he is currently coaching the national cricket team of Sweden and Pakistan Television (PTV) at the domestic level.
With a decent amount of coaching experience under his belt, Faisal has also applied for the job as he feels that he could help the Pakistan batters in becoming more suited to the modern requirements of the game.
However, there is still a possibility that the PCB might not even opt for a batting coach if it appoints Misbah-ul-Haq as the head coach who was a great batsman during his playing days.
