Paine decides to relinquish DRS responsibility

Australian skipper Tim Paine has been facing the heat ever since his side’s 1-wicket loss at the hands of England at Headingley earlier this week. Ben Stokes played one of the most memorable Test knocks to take England home with some help from the opposition as well.

Tim Paine wasted the only remaining valuable review on a call which was quite obvious, and it eventually costed Australia when Stokes was not given out, but he actually was. Even though it was an error from the umpire, but the Aussie could have gotten the last wicket had they not wasted the review on a silly call.

Paine has said that he is going to give up the responsibility of using the Decision Review System (DRS) as he has gotten every review wrong in the Ashes so far, however, he did not put the blame on the umpire by giving him the margin of error.

“I've got every review wrong so far, so I'm going to give up and give it to someone else. It was just spur of the moment, have a dabble at it. But, yeah, I got it wrong. saw it live. I thought it was out. I don't need to see it again. To sit down and single out an umpire is unnecessary, he is no different to everyone else, he is allowed to make mistakes,” he said.
