Khan Mohammad; the man behind some historic games

Head curator of the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Khan Mohammad has been looking after the ground since 1986 as he has prepared pitches for some historic games at the venue. He manages a total of 16 pitches in one of the biggest grounds in the world.

In an interview, Khan said that he has witnessed some great matches throughout his tenure as the curator as he recalled the 1996 World Cup semi-final which ended with some heavy rains. He also recalled the PSL 2018 eliminator which was affected by heavy overnight rain. However, it was Khan’s suggestion which lead to the game being played on time as he put forward the suggestion of using a helicopter.

Khan said that he has always tried to prepare balanced pitches for every team, but the perception of the pitch depends entirely upon the players who play on it. The head curator further called Inzamam-ul-Haq’s 329 against New Zealand as one of the memorable knocks at the Gaddafi Stadium.
