After piling heaps of runs in the domestic circuit, Hanuma Vihari was finally trusted to represent India in Test cricket. The 25-year old cricketer made his debut in tough England conditions and produced a decent show.
Even in the Antigua Test against West Indies, Hanuma scored crucial runs to help India get a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
All this has impressed the former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman who recently shared words of praise for the middle-order batsman.
Disagreeing with legendary Indian figure Kapil Dev who wanted Rohit Sharma to replace either Hanuma Vihari or Lokesh Rahul for the second Test, Laxman is of the opinion that Vihari belongs to the red-ball cricket as he possesses the needed temperament and technique for this format of the game.
Reflecting on Vihari’s batting performance against West Indies, the cricketer turned expert said that the Andhra Pradesh born cricketer scores freely without taking undue risks. Moreover, he urged the Indian team management to stay patient and give Vihari a consistent run in Test cricket.
