Warne backs Lyon to break his records

Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has been having a rough time ever since the conclusion of the 3rd Ashes Test in Headingley as he was blamed of ruining his side’s chances of retaining the historic trophy this year.

The spinner has otherwise been quite decent with the ball so far as he has taken 14 wickets in 3 Ashes Tests this year. Former Australian spin legend Shane Warne has predicted that Lyon might break his record of most Test wickets for Australia if he continues to play for the national side in the same manner.

“I think he has a chance. If you do the stats – if he plays another 85 or 90 Tests, and takes four wickets per game, that's 360 wickets – so he'll get me. As long as his hunger is there for the game if he's still enjoying the game. I'd love to watch someone get my record, that would be fantastic because it would mean they've done bloody well for Australia for a long period of time,” said Warne.
