ICC takes stern action against umpires

The ongoing Ashes series has been marred with poor umpiring decisions and subsequently umpires Joel Wilson and Chris Gaffaney have been removed from umpiring duties for remaining games. There will be two new umpires for the next Test at Manchester.

Wilson made several on-field errors including one that could have decided the third Test at Leeds last week, and Gaffaney had seven decisions overturned against him during that match.

Wilson came under fire in the third Test after failing to give England hero Ben Stokes out LBW in the dramatic final balls at Headingley.

Wilson and Gaffaney will be replaced by Marais Erasmus and Ruchira Palliyaguruge for the fourth Ashes Test in Manchester next week. The third umpire will be Kumar Dharmasena. The Ashes continues on September 4 when the fourth Test gets underway at Old Trafford.
