UAE has aimed to initiate a new cricket format called the 90-Ninety bash, which is a ninety-ball cricket game featuring 15 overs per side. The first season of this format will be staged in Sharjah in 2020, with the Emirates Cricket Board having given its approval.
The format is the brainchild of Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Salman Iqbal and Imran Chaudhry. Iqbal is also the owner of the Pakistan Super League franchise Karachi Kings and CEO of ARY Digital Network.

“The proposed 90-Ninety format will be shorter than Twenty20, with the aim of making every contest sharp, edgy and action-packed, while retaining the importance of cricket skills at the core of its success,” said a press release from the tournament.
