Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has starred in the tourists’ dominant performance in the warm-up game ahead of the fourth Ashes Test. The 27-year-old, who has recently fallen out of favour with the selectors, was back to his sublime form in the match against Derbyshire.
The younger of the Marsh brothers, Mitchell picked up 1-33 in the first innings and followed it up with a team-high 74 batting at the no.3 slot. With several loopholes in Australia’s batting unit, Marsh has made a strong case for his selection in the playing XI for the next game of the five-match series.
“For me personally, I've just been preparing to play and waiting for a chance and if not, I'll run the drinks the best I can. But hopefully I get a chance at some stage,” he said after the day’s play.
