Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been away from the team ever since his bizarre run in the recent ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and he has been serving with the Indian paramilitary troops on a sabbatical ever since.
Young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been included in team India’s squad for the upcoming series against South Africa after his decent performances in recent times. Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has backed the decision of the management to retain Pant over Dhoni as he needs consistent chances to settle in the team.
“You could make out from West Indies series, that they wanted to give Rishabh a chance. They want to pursue with him, which is rightly so. Because when MS came in young, he was also persisted with.,” he said.
