Newly appointed Afghanistan National Cricket Team’s captain, Rashid Khan is confident that his side will be able to mentally transition into the longer format ahead of their one-off Test against Bangladesh.
Rashid said his players have done the mental preparation for Test cricket and are ready to give their best to do positive in the format when they will face the hosts at Chittagong in the one-off encounter starting from 5th September.
"It is different (The Test format), and you have to have different kind of mentality for that," Rashid said. "You have more time and certainly there is more pressure in Test cricket. As a player, you need to switch on and switch off being playing like in T20, in ODI's and in Test cricket and we are ready for that,” he added.
Afghanistan were awarded Test status in June 2017 and have played two red-ball games thus far. Against India, in their long-format debut, they lost by an innings and 262 runs in June 2018 but they beat Ireland convincingly by seven wickets in March this year.
