The International Cricket Council (ICC) has been facing heavy backlash due to the standard of umpiring at the international level which has not been up to the mark of late. The ongoing Ashes has seen some of the most bizarre dismissals ever which tempted the ICC to change the panel for the final 2 Tests.
The 2nd unofficial ODI between India A and South Africa A witnessed a rather peculiar situation when all-rounder Axar Patel was given out by the umpire, Virender Sharma, after a half-hearted appeal for a caught behind by the bowler.
The decision left Axar angry as he expressed his frustration while exiting the field since he had not hit the ball. To everyone’s surprise, the umpire recalled the Indian all-rounder after realizing his mistake, but the decision was not well received by the opposition and fans on social media. Many Indian supporters also felt disappointed on the decision of the umpire as they did not approve of his U-turn.
