Following a strong performance to draw the two-game Test series, New Zealand produced another impressive outing to start the T20I series against Sri Lanka on a positive note. Winning the toss, hosts decided to bat first, but managed only 174 runs on a wicket which looked really good for batting.
While Kiwis were reduced to 39-3, but strong contributions from Colin de Grandhomme and Ross Taylor ensured that their team ends the game having a 1-0 lead in the three game T20I series. Taylor particularly looked in great form as he showed his experience to drive the run-chase and claimed the man of the match award for his 29-ball 48.
After the conclusion of the game, the veteran batsman spoke about carrying his good form and staying focused on the upcoming T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be played in Australia. The 35-year old believes that New Zealand needs to move forward from the World Cup 2019 heartbreak and there’d be no better way to do this than winning the global T20 competition.
