Craig Overton, the right-arm fast bowler, who replaced James Anderson for the remaining Ashes series, has been added to the England’s squad for the 4th Test. Chris Woakes has been left out by the England’s management for the upcoming match.
The 25-year old has represented England in 3 Test matches in which he picked up 7 wickets. Hailing from Somerset, the fast bowler possesses an impressive First-Class record.
Joe Root, England’s Test captain, hinted that Overton’s inclusion is based on the ground conditions which offers more bounce than expected. "At this ground, it does perform slightly different," said the skipper. "You get a bit more bounce from a taller bowler and it gives us a slightly different option to go to. I feel like that balances out our attack really well in these conditions”, Root added.
England will take on Australia in the 4th Ashes encounter at the Old Trafford, Manchester on 4th September. The series is levelled at 1-1 which will make the next two games more thrilling to watch.
