Sri Lanka took on New Zealand in the 2nd T20I at Pallekele on the night of 3rd September 2019. The home team, batting first, scored 161 for the loss of 9 wickets with little contributions from Avishka Fernando and Niroshan Dickwella.
In reply, New Zealand had a stammering start when they lost 3 wickets for 38. Colin de Grandhomme and Tom Bruce carried the sinking ship by scoring vital 59 and 53 runs respectively. Their partnership got New Zealand out of trouble and helped them to the victory.
New Zealand edged slightly over Sri Lanka in the closely contested game and clinched the T20I series. The Black Caps have a good start to their cricket campaign after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The runners-up have continued their good work in the foreign lands.
