After the completion of the Test series against Sri Lanka, the New Zealand cricket board decided to rest Kane Williamson for the T20I series and Tim Southee was given the opportunity to lead the side.
The fast bowler didn’t disappoint one bit as he led the team to a famous series victory against Sri Lanka at their backyard.
In the 2nd T20I, New Zealand chased down a target of 162 after they lost a couple of early wickets. Colin de Grandhomme (59) and Tom Bruce (53) led the foundation of a match-winning partnership as they reached the target at the loss of 5 wickets. Tim Southee also performed extremely well with the bowl as he took 2 wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs.
