The seventh edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) kicked off in style as defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders engaged in a gripping battle against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots battle to swell the charm of the competition. Knight Riders batted first to score 152 runs which was later defended courtesy of Patriots’ overseas stars.
Pakistan’s latest pace sensation Mohammad Hasnain made a memorable debut in the West Indian T20 gala as the rookie claimed 3 crucial wickets while giving away 36 runs. Dismissing Fabian Allen, Mohammad Hafeez and Rayad Emrit, the 19-year old quick showed his prowess on a big stage.
Hasnain’s maturity was lauded by many as he kept his cool in a tough situation to play a pivotal role in the victory of Knight Riders. However, it was the Kiwi all-rounder James Neesham who claimed the player of the match award for his brilliant show both with willow and leather.
