Afghanistan's newly appointed captain in all three formats Rashid Khan recently unveiled his name and number on the jersey before the one-off Test match against Bangladesh. The young leg-spinner was given the captaincy baton after the World Cup debacle where Afghanistan lost all matches.
Rashid posted his image on Twitter donning the new jersey depicting the number 4 on his back. Rashid’s tweet generated a lot of responses as fans commented on Afghanistan’s brand new jersey according to the ICC playing rules.
The ICC introduced the rule of putting names and numbers on players’ Test jerseys in a bid to popularize the longest format as part of the World Test Championship. However, Afghanistan’s game will not be counted in the Championship as they are not included in the 9-team competition.
