The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have selected Misbah-ul-Haq as the new head coach and chief selector of the national side. While several cricketers have welcomed the decision to appoint Misbah in a dual role, some former players have lashed out at the board for overlooking the 45-year-old’s lack of experience.
Former batsman Faisal Iqbal, who also applied for the post of batting coach of Pakistan, protested Misbah’s selection as an example of bias. Faisal questioned the absence of meritocracy in awarding Misbah the new job.
He expressed his bitterness on also being neglected from mentoring positions in the recently announced Quaid-e-Azam Trophy squads. Ruing his fate, Faisal alleged he has been a victim to unfair treatment from the relevant authorities. He wrote a plethora of hashtags directing his anger towards the board.
