The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the squads for the newly introduced regional Cricket Associations for the upcoming season of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy which would commence from the 14th of September.
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif was in the panel that was given the responsibility of selecting squads for each Association. While announcing the squads, Rashid made it clear that the squads have been selected on the basis of future prospects and the performances in recent years.
“We took the performances of the past three years, across all formats, into consideration when we sat down to have a look at these teams. We preferred players in early 20s who have shown improvement into consideration and those who have gotten a bit old and have had their performances go downhill were let go – which was a tough decision,” said Rashid.
He also revealed that the ratio of local players in the Balochistan squads has been changed in order to better the culture of domestic cricket in the province and bring forward talent from that part of the country.
