Pakistan U19 started their Asia Cup 2019 campaign in the worst possible manner as they were totally outclassed by the Afghanistan boys yet again at the P Sara Stadium in Colombo on Thursday.
Pakistan was bowled out for 78 runs in 19.4 overs after Afghanistan set them a target of 164 (DLS method) for victory. The team got off to a poor start, losing their first five batsmen for 48 runs in just under 11 overs.
Pakistan U19 have lost all of their last four ODIs against Afghanistan U19 and were equally poor in all those matches. Early defeat by a big margin will now make Pakistan’s campaign tough and they cannot afford to make even a small mistake in the rest of the group games in order to qualify for the semi-finals. Pakistan must now win their next clash against arch-rivals India on Saturday at Moratuwa.
