The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has handed over the reins of the national side and selection panel to former captain Misbah-ul-Haq who emerged as a strong contender among the pool of experienced coaches mainly due to his understanding of the domestic system in Pakistan.
Another news which has been making rounds in the media is that Misbah is currently in talks with a couple of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises for coaching contracts for the 2020 season.
If he reaches an agreement with a franchise, it would cause a conflict of interest for him since he would be managing the national side by that time.
However, Managing Director of the PCB, Wasim Khan has dismissed conflict of interest on Misbah’s potential PSL contract as he said that the former captain had informed the board of his intention of coaching a PSL side before his appointment.
The MD said that the board has decided to allow Misbah to take part in the PSL as a coach as it would help him in getting the required experience which would eventually come in handy for the Pakistan team.
