The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has implemented the newly developed domestic structure to better the quality of cricket being played in the country with the introduction of regional Cricket Associations in place of departments.
Former Pakistani speedster Aaqib Javed has backed the new domestic structure as he feels that the new system has addressed numerous issues of the previous system which would eventually improve the quality of cricket with lesser quantity of games.
Former opening batsman and current commentator, Ramiz Raja believes that the new system would only be successful if the PCB could somehow bring in meritocracy at the administration level as well.
However, he said that the revamped structure was long overdue, and it is a bold step from the PCB which could actually turn things around for Pakistan cricket.
Former Pakistani captain and one of the most famous all-rounders, Shahid Afridi has also backed the new system as he feels that the structure would encourage competition among first-class cricketers which would help in keeping things in check at the grass-root level.
Furthermore, captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Sarfraz Ahmed has also spoken in support of the new domestic structure as he said that the changed system would make things more competitive at the domestic level and the idea of second XI is quite intriguing to him due to its emphasis on quality and competition as well.
