Smith took someone else’s crimes on him: Brad Hogg

Steve Smith, Australia’s top-order batsman, is going through a remarkable period of resurgence after being sidelined from the cricket for one-year courtesy the ball-tampering incident at Cape Town last year.

Ever since his return, Smith has been unstoppable. He has been incredible in the Ashes 2019 so far, despite being ruled out of the 3rd Ashes Test due to concussion, Smith is still the highest scorer of the series.

His remarkable performance has forced the veteran cricketers to pay him huge respect and forget about the past. Brad Hogg, the former Australian player, said that Smith was out of cricket for one year because he took someone else’s crimes on him.

“Steve Smith did not touch the sandpaper; he took the fall for others stupidity and actions. Courage and resilience to come back from a year of penance, then concussion, to face pace and hostility and make another Ashes century, has to be shown full respect” Hogg said.
