One aspect of Pakistan’s disappointing World Cup campaign was their abysmal fielding standards showcased by the unfit stature of certain players. Most of the criticism was directed at captain Sarfaraz Ahmed’s unimpressive physique and sometimes a lax attitude on the field.
It seems Sarfaraz has taken all the distasteful comments to heart and has worked hard on his fitness in the aftermath of the showpiece event where Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals. The 32-year-old has reportedly lost 9 kilograms of weight and the transformation is evident.
Sarfaraz’s commitment to high fitness levels is in line with the rhetoric employed by the new head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq. He would be hoping this weight loss also translates into productive performances with the bat.
