The Thailand women’s cricket team has created history by qualifying for its first ever world event after beating Papua New Guinea women’s team by 8 wickets in the semi-final of the qualifiers in Dundee.

Papua New Guinea women failed to put up a competitive score while batting first as they only managed to score 67 runs in 20 overs. Thailand women did not grass the opportunity as they chased down the target in the 18th over at the loss of 2 wickets, qualifying for its first ever Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia next year.

The Thai team met with the Bangladesh women’s team in the final of the qualifiers as both of them would feature among the top sides in the world next year. Bangladesh also booked its berth by defeating Ireland in the other semi-final of the tournament by 4 wickets.
