After a fascinating start to the 2019 edition of the highly celebrated Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Guyana Amazon Warriors battled against St Lucia Zouks in another gripping contest to thrill the fans of the tournament. Winning the toss, St Lucia bowled first and delivered a good show to restrict Guyana to 155.
While the score didn’t look promising, Guyana’s spin attack consisting of Chris Green and Shadab Khan dented St Lucia to help their team start the competition on a positive note. Talented all-rounder Chris Green’s prowess was once again on display as the 25-year old cricketer contributed valiantly both with bat and ball to rescue his team from a precarious position.
During Guyana’s batting, Green produced a vital cameo which included him scoring 28 runs using just 15 balls which propelled his unit to 155 runs. The party didn’t end there for him as the South Africa born claimed two crucial wickets of Rahkeem Cornwall and Andrew McCarthy to damage St Lucia’s run-chase. To recognize his all-round heroics, the proficient player was rewarded with the player of the match award.
