Following the thinking of former greats Shoaib Akhtar and Sunil Gavaskar, ex Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has expressed his support to try Rohit Sharma as an opener in the red-ball cricket. While a group considers his technique to be misfit for Test cricket, but the 47-year old believes that Rohit is too good a player to get dropped.
The cricketer turned commentator added that scoring a plethora of runs in the Cricket World Cup 2019 event would have swelled Rohit’s confidence and it is an ideal time to give him a go in the purest format of the game. Ganguly cleared that he wants India to give Mayank Agarwal more opportunities, but reiterated that Rohit should replace Rahul at the top of the batting order.
